Benson Hospital invites people of all ages to pedal for a cause at its inaugural mountain bike race on Saturday, March 1. Proceeds from the race will go towards the purchase of new equipment for its rehabilitation program.
There will be three different races at the event – a six-mile race for youth under the age of 18, a 12-mile course for adults and a 36-mile race for relay teams of three. The race will take place at the San Pedro Golf Course on the cart path.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for participants to challenge themselves and realize that they can take part in races they may have previously felt intimidated by,” said Daniel Basham, Rehabilitation Director, Benson Hospital. “Furthermore, I believe that our community can make a significant impact by supporting the rehabilitation department at Benson Hospital, particularly in the pediatric occupational and speech therapy, and adult occupational and physical therapy departments.”
The hospital hopes to raise at least $15,000 to help it acquire essential equipment such as a new exercise bike, toys, manipulatives and tumbling equipment which would benefit children, youth and adults in Cochise County.
