Nothing is comfier than a good blanket – especially when you’re in the hospital.

TMC Health Laundry Services is introducing brand-new 2-pound polyester blankets across the system. This single blanket will replace both the old, blended bath blankets and the blue spreads that are currently being used.

The reason behind this change is threefold.

The new blanket keeps warmth more effectively, so patients will need fewer layers to stay comfortable. Fewer layers also mean less friction and pressure, which is especially important for skin integrity and wound prevention.

Having only one blanket per bed virtually cuts the amount of laundry in half, which means faster turnaround times for clean bedding.

Polyester is also less expensive – three times less – than the blended ones and it is durable and dependable. That means they don’t need to be replaced as much, and they hold their shape, softness and warmth even after many washes.

“This change isn’t about a new blanket. It is about creating ease for every pair of hands that touch it,” said Jenn Johnson, Laundry Manager. “From the laundry team to bedside caregivers, fewer layers mean less work, faster service and better outcomes. And as a nonprofit, every dollar we save goes right back into caring for the people who matter, our patients.”
