Supporting rural healthcare through investments in cutting-edge technology is a cornerstone of the TMC Health Foundation.
Recently, Benson Hospital acquired a brand-new state-of-the-art DEXA scanner, made possible with a generous $69,000 grant from the TMC Health Foundation.
The advanced Hologic DXA system offers faster, more detailed imaging for patients than the previous scanner, significantly enhancing the hospital’s ability to diagnose osteoporosis an osteopenia – conditions that affect bone density and increase the risk of fractures, particularly in older adults.
Additionally, the new DEXA scanner introduces a new service for Benson Hospital: full-body composition scanning. This service provides insights into fat, muscle and bone distribution and can support patients managing weight loss, chronic conditions and overall health goals.
The TMC Health Foundation also recently funded a new DEXA scanner for Northern Cochise Community Hospital in Willcox, expanding access to advanced bone health diagnostics across the region.
“Philanthropy plays a vital role in bringing advanced care closer to home, especially in rural communities,” said Deb Dale, Chief Development Officer of the TMC Health Foundation. “This investment in Benson Hospital is a reflection of our shared mission to provide exceptional healthcare with compassion throughout Southern Arizona.”
